After screenings at the Telluride Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, Slumdog Millionaire initially had a limited North American release on 12 November 2008 to critical acclaim and awards success, and later had a nationwide release in the United States on 26 December 2008. It was subsequently released in the United Kingdom on 9 January 2009 and will be released in India on 23 January 2009.[1]

Slumdog Millionaire won five of the six awards it was nominated for at the Critics Choice Awards and all four of the awards it was nominated for at the Golden Globes. It has also been nominated for eleven BAFTA Awards.

Delhi-6 is a forthcoming Hindi film (Bollywood) film to be directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra that will star Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Om Puri, Atul Kulkarni, and Divya Dutta. The movie is reportedly based on Mehra's growing up years in Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi The film will be Mehra's third directorial venture after critically acclaimed Aks and the immensely successful Rang De Basanti, which was India's official entry to the Oscars.


Delhi 6 Story

American-born Indian, Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) brings his ailing grandmother back to India. Little does he know that the quick trip will turn into the longest journey of his life - a journey within. The backdrop of the story is the ancient walled city of Delhi, better known as Chandni Chowk, a character in herself. It represents the chaos, religion, beliefs and ethos of the Indian people. The pin code of that part of the city is 110006, and with pride of love they call her Delhi-6 .

Dev.D is an upcoming Indian Hindi language romantic drama film due for release on February 6, 2009. Written and directed by Anurag Kashyap, the film is a modern day take on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's classic novel Devdas.


Plot :

Dev (Abhay Deol) is the son of a zamindar (tax collector). He and Paro (Mahi Gill) are childhood sweethearts. Differences in status and caste prevent their marriage. Dev is sent to Delhi while Paro is married off to a rich but aged widower. In Calcutta Devdas meets the prostitute Chanda (Kalki) but remorse drives him to excesses.


Dev.D boasts 18 tracks by artist Amit Trivedi, who says it "would be the ‘Baap of different genres’ with each track sounding distinctively from the other." He specifically reports that there are two special Punjabi tracks, one which is raw Punjabi and the other with a street band baaja flavor to it. He also reports a romantic Rajasthani folk track, apart from a hard rock song, world music, an Awadhi number and a song with 1970’s-80’s pop touch to it. The soundtrack received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Critic Joginder Tuteja said, "Chuck the very thought around whether this album will do well commercially or not; it is an exemplary piece of work and that's what that matters most". However, website Radio Sargam states "‘Dev D’ cannot be claimed a brilliant album though most of the songs grow well on the listener. Some disappoint hugely too. But with the huge hype, the sales can boost up from the stands.
